Note: These instructions are effective as of May 2008. Systems built before this date may have different configuration. 1. Arrange the filters the best way that they will fit for the location.
2. Remove the black cap from the Hercules Filter, the smaller of the three tanks - the one without the "in"& "out" holes. 3. Remove the control valve from the box and make sure the large black O-ring is seated in its place on the base just above the threads. Hold it over the top of the Hercules Filter and align it with the opening. Center the riser tube to the valve and carefully slide it on. You may need to push down hard to get the tube to slide all the way in. There is an O-ring in the valve. Once it is in, carefully start turning the valve clockwise to thread it down tight. Make sure there is no grit in threads to ensure proper seal. Do not cross thread or over tighten. 4. Plumb it in by cutting the cold water line where you want to connect - the raw water side. Connect your incoming water line to the shut-off on the inlet side of the control valve. Connect to the shut-off valve on the outlet of the small filter housing to the other portion of the pipe leading to the house (the filtered water side). 5. Next, a backwash drain line (1/2-inch plastic hose that you must supply) must be attached to the drain fitting on the back of the control valve and run into a drain. (Read control valve manual for more instructions) 6. Once it is plumbed in, you need to backwash both filters to flush out. There is a lot of fine media dust in the filters that will flush out when the water is first turned back on. 7. On the Hercules Filter, set the
control to the backwash position (check the manual). Unplug the
control. 8. Important! First remove the one-micron filter from housing so it will not plug up. 10. Note: The water will have a little bit of grayness or air bubbles coming out for a few days. This is harmless. If you fill a clear glass, you will see bubbles rise to the top and leave the water crystal clear & odor free. If not, you may run water for another 10 minutes or so and repeat air bubble test in glass. 11. Set backwash pins as needed.
All pins in = every night. Every other pin = alternate nights,
etc. 12. Set clock time to current time. Do not worry about backwashing at night. It is automatically off set when set to current time. 13. Replace 1-micron filter
cartridge in housing (post filter) every 12 months or when water
flow noticeably slows down. ![]() |

Note: The above assembly instructions show an OPTIONAL bypass (top). This bypass is handy for times when you may want to use non-filtered water or for disinfecting household plumbing. This would put chlorinated water in pipes overnight. Then you would flush out with purified water by turning the ball valve bypass off before using water in your house. |
